I am not questioning the existence of God nor anyone who believes in God, but have you ever thought. Why do we worship God or a God? So let’s think about some things.
Do you worship because you read the bible and you believe? Did something happen in your life that caused you to believe? Or do you just believe because you feel it is the right thing to do?
Let’s say the bible was never written, how would you know about God, Heaven or Hell?Let’s say the bible consisted of only a few books and they basically said; I created the heaven and the earth, all the animals, and you. You will live for a time and when you die you go back to the dust of the earth and nothing happens after that. Anything that happens during your life is on you and I have no control over any of it. Would you worship God? Why?
There is something called Pascal Wager Read up on it. Interesting stuff there too.
People in general do something based on a certain outcome. Yes I know there are those special people who are so nice they do it for no reason at all. Actually we all do things for a result. We give because it helps someone else and we feel good doing so. We do not do bad things because we know we could receive punishment for it such as jail or death or we may just feel bad from doing it. But we all do things for a reason.
People worship God because, it feels good to do so. People do it because there is a Heaven and a Hell and they want to go to Heaven – not Hell. But if there was no God, no Heaven, no Hell then why would you worship a God? Because you feel inside you should and it makes you feel good. So again we do things for a certain outcome. Reward vs punishment.
You could provide scientific proof there is no God and people would still worship him. Why, because they feel it is the right thing to do deep inside. They do it because they have faith, even in the absence of being able to prove to a non-believer they will still profess and believe. And if they pass away and there was nothing – what have they lost? Pascal Wager discusses that. They have lost nothing. They worship because they choose to. There are things we will never understand and to some there is no reason to even try to understand them. They just believe based on faith and what they feel. Good for them.
In closing please understand I am not disputing God, believers or your faith. I commend you for it. Sometimes I just think and wonder and I write. Then I move on to something else. I do like sharing my thoughts from time to time. Hopefully you enjoy the reading of them.
God Bless and carry on.
