I think Trump is a very successful businessman. I have no problem with the bankruptcy issues because sometimes a business venture does not go as planned. That is part of life and business. I have no problem with his divorce & remarry issues. That happens too and is part of life. I do not know Donald J. Trump personally anymore than most of you do.
I do know he is not running his campaign on the Constitution. He is running it on him making America Great Again. He will ensure we make great deals with Mexico, China and Japan. Anyway I think you know his stance by now. And at first I was on the Trump train of angry people wanting to take our country back. At least for a while.
I still want to take our country back but back to what? The basics of the Constitution. Rand Paul was one of the best advocates for that but we knew he was never going to win. So who did that leave is as the one for the Constitution? Ted Cruz.
As far as details, we can argue that back and forth all day, every day from now until the election. I am backing Ted Cruz 100%. He is stable, steady, true, and I trust him far more than Trump. So what happens if Trump becomes the nominee and goes against Clinton? Clinton will win and she will win because the numbers have said so over and over. And did you know that Democrats have been voting for Trump in our GOP primaries to build up Trump on purpose only to vote for Clinton in the general election. YES – they are just that smart and yes we are just that dumb. At least some are. And I am not surprised. And yes many are on the “I am mad – Trump train.” That is your right.
So back to my question: What it is comes down to Trump vs Clinton? Do you stand on your values, your principles, your gut, your integrity? Or do you hold your nose and vote for Trump? Will your vote matter? Yes your vote always matters but true in the general election we go by the electoral college so your vote does not pull the same weight as it does in your local mayor, sheriff, or city counsels where 1 vote one way or the other makes a huge difference. So trying to shame me one way or the other in the general election is a waste of your time. But try if you must.
I have not made up my mind on the above scenario because I am hoping it does not come to that. But here is where I am leaning so far. If it comes down to Trump vs Clinton I look at it this way. I am an American who has served my country for over half my entire life and well over half my adult life. I took the oath to support and defend the President? nope The flag – nope. The Constitution – YES! And right now we have one candidate who is standing on the Constitution and it is NOT Donald J. Trump. So for the first time in my voting life I am considering if Trump is the nominee to NOT vote at all.
OMG some say you are electing Clinton! No I am not. Trump supporters will have chosen Trump (because you are mad, angry, pissed off, gonna make America Great Again, gonna build a wall and make Mexico pay for it (no you are not) and on and on.
(NOTE: I was for Trump in the beginning but the more I listened the more concerned I became and then decided based on debate after debate he has no real plans) And his attacks on anyone who does not slobber over him are in contrast to the 1st Amendment. If you praise him your are smart great and successful. If you disagree with him you are a loser and so much more.
So if Trump is the nominee, and if I do not vote, and if you get Clinton: YOU OWN IT. You voted for Trump over and over and over vs someone who is based on the CONSTITUTION. But I know many of you will personally attack me if I do not vote for the nominee and that will not be a surprise. I however WILL NOT attack you. I will however say I hope you have a great memory of how America used to be. Because if Clinton does get elected she in her own words is an early 20th century Progressive. And if you want to see what the early 20th century Progressives did read the book: NEW DEAL or RAW DEAL.
And as far as this contested convention or whatever name you give it there have been 10 as I understand under the GOP and of the 10 they had the person who came out of top was not the person with the most delegates. As I understand it only 3 of those 10 times did the person ahead in delegates become the nominee. And we survived all of them. But as we know this time around we have a lot of pissed of people who feel that violence may just be the way to go. We may also see the riots of 1968 all over again. I hope not but who knows.
The system we have is not perfect, but it it far better than any other system in the world. I for one and not letting friends or family tell me that Trump is our only option. That he is not bought & paid for. He has done plenty of buying politicians for years to get what he wants. But they do not want to hear that. No problem, do not listen. Some say current ones are bought by others such as the Koch Brothers.
This was in response to a FB post to one of my friends last week who supports Trump: Here is something to consider so let me play devils advocate. Let’s say all these Republicans stop being supported by Koch and others. Then what? I do not think for one second old George Soros and his clan are going to drop supporting their people. So as fantastic as all this crap sounds – it will never stop on either side. It was in the 1800’s, the 1900’s with their rich friends way back then. I will continue because I see no way to stop it.
Having said that – I say the richest and most powerful are the winners and I want the Republicans to be the winners. I do agree with term limits which would change the tide, But it will never stop it on either side.
And Trump is in with this as well. He even said publicly he donates and they do him favors. He uses the system just like they all do. So Trump is in the system a lot more than we know is my bet. Remember – when the politicians are talking (in eluding Trump. God gave us two ears and one mouth for a reason. Listen to him carefully.
